Monday, 15 December, at the Heritage Hub in Mirafiori, Turin, the final event of the CO-SMART project will take place. The initiative is promoted by the Italian universities involved in Spoke 11 – Innovative Materials and Lightweighting of the National Centre for Sustainable Mobility (MOST), funded under the PNRR – Mission 4 “Education and Research”.
The event, titled “Research and Industry for the Mobility of the Future”, will be dedicated to presenting the project’s results, with the participation of researchers, companies and institutional representatives. The participation of the Piedmont Region’s Councillor for Productive Activities, Andrea Tronzano, is scheduled.
“This will be an opportunity to share the milestones achieved in applied research on innovative and sustainable materials for the automotive sector, made possible through constant dialogue between universities, research centres and industry,” explains Prof. Maurizia Seggiani, coordinator of the CO-SMART project and professor at the University of Pisa. “Italy has the expertise to lead the transition towards more efficient and environmentally friendly mobility. Opportunities like this help consolidate a shared strategic vision,” adds Prof. Lorella Ceschini, head of Spoke 11 and professor at the University of Bologna.
The event will open at 9:30 a.m. with institutional greetings, followed by contributions from the project’s academic and industrial partners, including CRF-Stellantis, A2A E-Mobility, Gruppo Hera, CNR, Sapienza University of Rome, Marche Polytechnic University and the Polytechnic University of Bari. In the afternoon, starting at 2:00 p.m., a roundtable will explore future challenges for research in sustainable mobility, involving representatives from both industry and academia. A guided tour of the Heritage Hub, showcasing the history of Italy’s iconic automotive brands, will follow.
The initiative is part of MOST’s dissemination and technology-transfer activities, involving 24 universities, the CNR, 24 major companies and more than 1,200 researchers, with a total investment of approximately €380 million.
